This webinar will provide an overview of currently accepted best practices for the screening, assessment and treatment of gambling disorder among Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) clients and their families. An overview of the cultural contributions that promote gambling and increase risk for gambling disorder will be presented. Emphasis on how clinicians can deliver culturally-relevant and impactful treatment will be discussed, including reviewing treatment resources that are currently available. Finally, a number of cases of gambling disorder and families impacted by gambling disorder involving AAPI will be presented to facilitate collaborative engagement and understanding with the audience.
Objectives:
1. Name three cultural themes among AAPI communities that increase risk for gambling disorder
2. Be able to demonstrate screening and assessment techniques from AAPI clients and their families focused on identifying gambling behaviors
3. Learn three office-based techniques that will engage and retain AAPI clients and their families impacted with gambling disorder
