What We Do

Pro-Consumer, Pro-Public Health

MACGH serves as a private, non-profit public health agency offering a range of services and supports to those impacted by consumer activities. We balance public health priorities with a people-first model for gambling and gaming expansion through education, treatment, and advocacy.

We’re grateful for wonderful partners and generous donors. Thanks to their support, we’ve developed a continuum of prevention and intervention strategies for clinicians, industry stakeholders, policymakers, community professionals, and the public. Inclusion, innovation, versatility — and lots of hard work — guide our efforts.

Our Impact at a Glance

MACGH is growing its regional, national, and global impact. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve achieved so far:

50+ Operators Worldwide in Consulting Portfolio

MACGH serves as a consultant in 37 U.S. states and across Canada, South Asia, and Australia. Our work spans a variety of gambling and gaming issues, including trainings for lottery associations and casinos. We use state-of-the-art responsible gambling tools to inform data-driven best practices. These partnerships grow  and encourage positive play.

45 States and 18 Countries Represented Through Outreach

MACGH leads broad-based coordination among stakeholders in gaming, healthcare, research, and government. As a gambling-neutral organization, we provide a unique, third-party perspective. Our multilingual GameSense Advisors (GSAs) field questions via LiveChat from across the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia.

$30 M+ Secured for Gambling Resources

MACGH is a pro-consumer voice and watchdog in Massachusetts and beyond. Our advocacy in crafting the Expanded Gaming Act in 2011 ensures annual funds for player health and problem gambling services. We’ve recently established safeguards for sports bettors and players on digital gambling platforms.

24/7, 365 Player Health Education

MACGH provides GameSense Advisors (GSA) at Massachusetts casinos. These highly-trained professionals provide guidance and support to those in the moment. Individuals can ask gambling-related questions at any hour to a GSA via the GamLine or LiveChat.

40+ Years in Recovery and Prevention

We offer a range of up-to-date resources to support individuals and their loved ones negatively impacted by gambling and gaming. The MACGH team offers around-the-clock tele-support services to all individuals enrolled in Voluntary Self-Exclusion programs.

Dozens of Research Partnerships

Global research entities look to MACGH for guidance. We collaborate with industry leaders, academic institutions, and governments to study and evaluate emerging topics and trends. These findings inform recommendations on accountability, regulatory standards, and player health.

3 Revolutionary Voluntary Self-Exclusion Options

In collaboration with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, MACGH created and operates a remote Voluntary Self-Exclusion program (VSE). It’s the first of its kind in North America. Players can remove themselves from casino floors, marketing lists, and with Sports Wagering Self-Exclusion, sportsbooks, and mobile apps. These offerings are considered best-in-class, with dozens of entities implementing theIr approach.

40,000+ Program Participants Annually

MACGH stays on the edge of innovation, developing unique continuing education trainings for clinicians and community professionals around prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
