Pathways to Success in Recovery. Malik’s story.

Malik’s gambling started as innocent fun when he was young, but it quickly turned into a way to cope with feeling isolated and bullied. Winning gave him a false sense of control and validation, but by college, things had spiraled—he was neglecting himself, drinking to handle losses, and stuck in a cycle of highs and lows. Now in recovery, Malik looks back on the damage it caused and wants others to learn from his experience. His message is there are many pathways to support and resources. Whether it’s support groups, spirituality, or new, healthy friendships, there’s help out there—and you’re not alone.
